Banning airport is located in the Banning Pass between the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio Mountains both these mountains are tall and step with the tallest peaks at 10834 ft and 11,503 ft. Therefore this airport can be windy at times with up and downdrafts on approach because of the close proximity to the mountainous terrain.
