Blythe is an uncontrolled airport on the California/Arizona border. In the late 1930s, Blythe Airport was built and used as an emergency landing field on the Los Angeles to Phoenix airway. During Word War II, the US Air Force used the airfield for desert training and air combat exercises. Today, Blythe is a great airport to stop at for fuel, snack, or to stretch your legs on a long cross country through the desert.
